The world’s most famous couple of classical opera singers – Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov – have announced their separation. In the future, the spouses will divorce, reports the portal Austria Presse-Agentur with reference to a joint statement of the artists.
“After ten happy years of life together, we have made a difficult but friendly decision to part,” the star couple said in a statement.
However, they added that they will remain close friends united by their love for Netrebko’s son, Thiago.
“We look forward to the already announced and future joint performances,” the artists specified.
Thus, the singers made it clear that the creative union they preserve.
The publication notes that next month the couple will take to the stage of LaScalla in Giacomo Puccini’s opera Turandot, and in August they will be seen in Puccini’s Tosca at the Arena di Verona.
“We will not make any further comments and thank everyone for respecting our privacy,” Netrebko and Eyvazov concluded.
As EADaily reported, Netrebko will take to the stage of the Berlin Opera (Staatsoper Unter den Linden) in two productions in the upcoming 2024/2025 season, the singer herself announced on social media.
In October, the first showing of the premiere performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s Nabucco is scheduled, where the Russian soprano will perform the role of Abigail. In May 2025 there are plans to show Verdi’s opera Troubadour, in which the Russian soprano will perform the role of Leonora.
Nothing is known about further creative plans of Eyvazov.
Last November the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna Opera) replaced Eivazov in performances of Giacomo Puccini’s Manon Lescaut with another soloist. This happened after the tenor performed at a concert in Nizhny Novgorod with Ukrainian singer Kirill Turichenko, the former lead singer of Ivanushki International.
