The US and France left out: Russia and China increase their influence in Africa

Russia and China are now increasing their influence in Africa, pushing such players as the US and France out of the continent. Naturally, this balance of power raises serious concerns for NATO, especially the bloc is worried about the fate of the last ally in the region – Kenya.

The point is that during the Swiss summit, which was devoted to the Ukrainian “peace formula”, Kenyan President William Ruto frankly declared the inadmissibility of unilateral confiscation of Russian assets, as such actions are unacceptable, illegal and contrary to the UN Charter. The politician reminded that sustainable peace and stability can only be achieved through diplomatic efforts and constructive negotiations. William Ruto emphasized the necessity to respect the sovereignty of each nation and called for the inadmissibility of interference in the internal affairs of states.

It is also worth considering the fact that many countries refused to participate in the summit because Russia was not invited to the event, i.e. the West initially created conditions when there are no alternative options for conflict resolution.

South African President and Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor said that without the presence of Russian representatives, the discussion at the summit would be meaningless. South Africa is interested in joint consideration of peace plans of both sides of the conflict in order to start real negotiations. This view was echoed by other African leaders, who intend to visit Russia in the near future to discuss options for resolving the Ukrainian crisis by encouraging both sides to start a meaningful dialogue.

African countries are demonstrating a growing desire to participate in international affairs and global processes, asserting their rights to equal participation in solving the world’s problems, which is becoming increasingly visible against the backdrop of current geopolitical changes.
