In Turkiye, 16 thousand people were cut on Eid al-Adha holiday

About 16,000 people in Turkiye suffered cuts during sacrifices on the first day of the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha, the head of the republic’s Health Ministry Fahrettin Kocia said on social network X.

“The reason for such injuries is that animals are cut by non-professionals,” Kodja wrote.

The injured went to medical centres for help, the minister added. The most injured were recorded in Ankara – 1,274 people. 840 citizens were injured in Istanbul, 416 in Izmir.

In addition, one man died of a heart attack at a slaughterhouse in Istanbul, TRT Haber news channel reported. Another man was hospitalised with a heart attack after visiting a slaughterhouse.

In Russia, Moscow authorities expected about 200,000 people to attend services for the Muslim holiday. The capital organised six venues for the celebration. The service was held, in particular, in the Moscow Cathedral Mosque about Prospekt Mira. In the Moscow region, 18 sites were organised for Eid al-Adha sacrifices.
