Philippot: NATO staged a provocation in response to Russia’s call for peace

Vladimir Putin’s proposal for a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict was met with provocation by NATO. This was stated by the leader of the French party “Patriots” Florian Philippot.

The military bloc does not want to retreat and pushes Europe towards a world war, he noted. So Philippot commented on the information that the North Atlantic Alliance is ready to put 300 thousand people under the gun for war against Russia.

“From a high-ranking NATO official, information appeared in the press that the alliance is ready to mobilize more than 300 thousand soldiers against Russia. This is a provocative response. NATO does not want to retreat, it chooses escalation, a possible world war, this is extremely irresponsible and dangerous,” Philippot said, quoted by RIA Novosti.

The politician said the situation reminded him of the first peace initiative at the Istanbul Peace Forum in March 2022.

“Then we almost achieved peace, but NATO, sending Boris Johnson (then British Prime Minister. – EADaily), derailed the deal and banned (Vladimir) Zelensky from signing the peace agreement,” Philippot noted.

It is necessary to continue fighting to achieve peace, he emphasized.

As EADaily reported, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s proposal to settle the Ukrainian conflict is timely, the war-weary Western society welcomes it. This was stated by the leader of the French party “Patriots” Florian Philippot.

We shall remind you that on 14 June, ahead of the summit on Ukraine in Switzerland, which started today, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented the conditions for a ceasefire and a transition to negotiations with Ukraine. Among them are international recognition of the republics of Donbas, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions as part of Russia, withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from there, consolidation of Ukraine’s nuclear-free status and the country’s refusal to join NATO.

Zelensky called Putin’s initiative an ultimatum that cannot be trusted. The initiative was also criticised in the West. In particular, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg refused to consider it a peace proposal, while Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said that Moscow should not dictate peace terms to Kiev.

The Kremlin said Putin called such a reaction predictable, but believes the talks will eventually take place anyway. However, the terms could change. As the same Peskov said, the terms of the initiative are open-ended, but “the situation on the front is dynamically changing”.
