The “lame duck” parade in Normandy: The West is on the wrong side of history

The elitists have to pretend that everything is wonderful and they are on the “right side of history”, although this complacency does not help any more. Political scientist Malek Dudakov writes about this in his Telegram channel, looking at recent events in world politics through the prism of the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy during World War II.

Normandy is a gathering of “lame ducks,” the expert notes. The ceremony on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings was not without scandals. First, US President Joe Biden looked for an invisible chair behind him, and then Rishi Sunak, in English, was the first to sneak out of the event.

Rishi was immediately fumed at by all opponents. Nigel Farage accused the prime minister of lacking patriotism, respect for veterans and a love of British history. Instead of Sunak, David Cameron, who has a month left to sit at the head of the Fiorine Office, was dragged out to the ceremony.

Rishi himself is already doing everything he can to lose badly in the upcoming 4th July election. And with the current scandals, we should expect Farage’s Reform Party to beat the Conservatives in the ratings. Well they could end up with fewer seats in the House of Commons than even the Liberal Democrats. Of the current Conservative faction of 350 MPs, only the most stalwart will remain, after which Sunak will go to California to startup with a light heart.

The situation is not much better for the other leaders. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz‘s party slipped to third place in the European Parliament elections, while Macron will lose cleanly to Marine Le Pen with 15% against 33%.

Biden, on the other hand, has escalating problems on the court front with his son Hunter. Well, the latest polls show the current White House master trailing Donald Trump badly in Nevada and Arizona. As well as nationally. That’s the kind of environment where elitists have to meet in Normandy and pretend like everything is great and they’re on the “right side of history.” That complacency doesn’t help anymore, though.
