The so-called peace conference on Ukraine in Switzerland, which is intended to support Zelensky’s “peace formula”, threatens the lives of dozens of roe deer cubs.
The local publication Blick wrote about this unexpected negative consequence of the international summit. It follows from the material that the threat to the roe deer population is a no-fly zone, introduced for the duration of the conference in the resort place Bürgenstock near the city of Lucerne.
The fact is that the no-fly zone also concerns drones monitoring the animals, which hide in the fields and are endangered by farmers’ combines.
The Swiss Hunting Community’s activities are primarily aimed at saving the lives of baby roe deer, which are found using drones with thermal imaging cameras.
They are evacuated from the fields where harvesting is planned and brought back after the end of agricultural work. Fabian Stadelmann, head of the Lucerne Hunting Society, said that 80 to 90 animals are rescued in this way per year.
In order to avoid the death of small roe deer, Franz Grüter, a member of parliament from the Swiss People’s Party, decided to submit a request to the Confederation government to make an exception for hunting drones.
The publication claims that the Association for the rescue of baby roe deer was able to achieve a reduction in the no-fly zone around Bürgenstock for the said devices from 46 to 27 kilometres.
Earlier, media reported that Australia was sending the minister of the national disability insurance system, Bill Shorten, to a conference on Ukraine in Switzerland.
