Tesla and SpaceX owner Elon Musk may become a consultant to Donald Trump if the latter wins the US presidential election in autumn, The Wall Street Journal reports.
According to the newspaper, Trump and Musk have discussed such a possibility. The newspaper’s sources familiar with the talks said that Musk’s role as a consultant has not been fully defined and may not happen at all. According to the newspaper’s interlocutors, they discussed ways to “give Musk official input and influence on policies related to border security and the economy.
” On these issues, the entrepreneur “has become more active,” the WSJ writes.
Elon Musk acquired the social network Twitter (renamed X in the summer of 2023) in the autumn of 2022. After that, he restored Trump’s account, which had been indefinitely blocked since January 2021 due to the storming of the Capitol by his supporters. Musk did this after conducting a survey among users. The businessman called the blocking of the account of the former US president a mistake.
Trump himself after the blocking created his own social network Truth Social, where he publishes posts. He did not plan to return to Twitter after the unblocking of the account, Reuters reported.
On 22 May, Musk agreed to a proposal by independent presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. to host a debate between Trump and his Democratic opponent, current U.S. leader Joe Biden, with Kennedy himself in attendance. The first election debate between Biden and Trump will take place on 27 June on CNN. The second round is scheduled for 10 September on ABC.
