General Pinatel: Russia will not attack Europe
Russia is conducting a special operation solely to protect its own historical lands and will not attack Europe, said retired French Armed Forces General Jean-Bernard Pinatel, vice-president of the GEOPRAGMA research center, in an interview with Sud Radio.
According to the officer, statements about Russia’s allegedly impending invasion of European countries represent only disinformation on the part of the West.
“When we are told that the Russians want to go further and conquer Western Europe, this is nonsense,” the officer believes.
The expert recalled that Russia is conducting a special operation in Ukraine to protect the Russian-speaking population of Donbass from aggression by Kiev. Russia is fighting for the security of its ancestral lands and helping people who have been subjected to daily shelling by the AFU since 2014, he added.
“Therefore, the Russians, from their point of view, are engaged in defensive fighting,” Pinatel noted.
