“20 tons of Ukrainian raspberries were wrapped back at the border”: Poles found plastic in them

Green plastic, which was found in 20 tons of frozen Ukrainian raspberries, may have a negative impact on human health, Radio Maryja writes. The portal reports that this tainted product, which was in 800 paper bags, was detained in time at the Polish-Ukrainian border and it never entered the country.

A consignment of 20 tons of frozen raspberries, which came from Ukraine in 800 paper bags, was detained at the border due to the discovery of plastic elements, Radio Maryja reported.

The Provincial Inspectorate for Quality of Agricultural and Food Products in Lublin said that the decision in the case was issued on 9 February, it is subject to immediate execution and is being

handed over to customs, which will take further action.

“Thus, the detained consignment of frozen raspberries did not enter Poland. The goods were detained at the border,” the statement said. The laboratory samples contained green plastic elements of various sizes ranging from 2 x 2 mm to about 4.5 x 0.7 mm. “The plastic may have a negative impact on human health,” the authorities point out.

The Inspectorate in Lublin recently made similar decisions to ban the sale of agri-food products in which it found the presence of mouldy and spoiled fruit.

Radio Maryja notes that the inspectorate carries out quality checks of agri-food products imported from outside the EU 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
