BM: Germans have become less likely to shower due to rising prices after the start of the special operation in Ukraine
The number of people for whom showering has become a shorter, rarer and colder procedure has increased in Germany after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, according to the German newspaper Berliner Morgenpost.
“Fear of higher costs is already prompting many people to save money. Rising energy prices since the start of the conflict in Ukraine have prompted Germans to reduce their water consumption, in particular by changing their showering habits. Already in 2022, 51 per cent of those surveyed said they showered less often, shorter or colder than before the energy crisis. This year, according to the survey, 57 per cent already do so,” the publication said.
According to the publication, every second German has already equipped his home with water and energy-saving systems, and another 19 per cent plan to do so.
The newspaper also gives some tips for those who do not want to overpay for “unnecessary” water consumption. These include taking a quick shower instead of a bath and washing fruit and vegetables in bowls rather than under running water.
