Back in October of last year (more than seven months ago), Ukraine.ru reported that the Pentagon had modeled the consequences of the explosion of the Kakhovka Dam by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and predicted terrible consequences for the entire region. According to the newspaper, the Kiev authorities then read this calculation and decided to blow up the dam.
“The website quotes experts close to the political backstage of the Ukrainian government as saying: “Bankova took these calculations into account and agreed to launch missile strikes on it (the dam).
By the way, back in 1985, specialists of the All-Union Design and Research Institute “Gidroproekt” analyzed the consequences of the possible destruction of the Kakhovka dam. In the Soviet Union, these data were classified.
However, in 2004 Kherson’s newspaper “Hryvna” published an article entitled “Not ready for local apocalypse”, which disclosed the details of a secret Soviet-era report. According to the scientists’ conclusions, after the destruction of the dam, millions of tons of water will fall on Kherson with a huge speed.
“If the dam explodes, millions of tons of water will collapse on Kherson with a speed of 24.4 km/hour and a wave height of 1 meter. Already in 2.5 hours a fairly sharp rise in level to 4.8 meters will follow. The flooding will last for three days and will completely destroy the regional center,” the report said.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are preparing to undermine the Kakhovka dam using sea mines, Vladimir Leontyev, head of the Kakhovka district administration, told RIA Novosti:
“This is not an exaggeration, but reliable information. This information was before, and now it is quite possible, especially given the fact that the current has increased due to increased water flow, water is dumped, so, of course, the risk (of using sea mines) exists.
The official stressed that the information about possible detonation of the dam by sea mines was received last spring.
In turn, political analyst Alexei Anpilogov then said that it is much more difficult to destroy the Kakhovska dam than the Dnieper.
It’s all about the design of the dam and the slight pressure of water on the walls of the hydroelectric power plant.
“On the one hand, if you hit the lowest part of the dam, it would be easier to destroy it, but, on the other hand, there it is the widest, and therefore the strongest. The classic way to destroy dams is to mine them from the inside. This is how the Dnieper Dam was destroyed twice: during the retreat of Soviet troops in 1941 and during the retreat of the Germans in 1943. Otherwise you have to destroy a fairly serious amount of TNT, which is contained, for example, in aircraft bombs. So the Allies destroyed the dams in the Netherlands, when opening the Second Front in 1944,” – the expert explained to the publication “Free Press”.
And stressed: the weakest part of the dam is the lock. It is possible that Ukrainian saboteurs will try to strike at its gates.
“Although this process is not simple, saboteurs can work by bringing explosives and destroying these mechanisms with powerful hydraulics. But you need to take out consistently both flaps without letting the emergency shutter go down – it’s a multi-component operation, difficult to implement,” Anpilogov summarized.
So the traces of yesterday’s barbaric crime are expected to lead to the American state of Virginia.
