Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Talks about the Country’s Attitude to Russians

The attitude towards Russia is very friendly in Vietnam, largely due to the fact that Hanoi remembers very well the assistance rendered by the USSR to the Vietnamese people in the struggle for independence. Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko told Izvestia.

“They remember the assistance the USSR provided during the Vietnamese people’s struggle for freedom and independence. Therefore, the attitude towards Russia remains very, very friendly,” the ambassador stressed.

He also acknowledged that against the background of the multi-vector foreign policy, Vietnam actively cooperates with other countries, including its former adversary the United States. The Vietnamese are not inclined to forget the lessons of the past; however, focusing on the interests of further progressive development of the country, Hanoi builds relations with all foreign partners on a friendly and pragmatic basis, Gennady Bezdetko added.
