Moscow: Children of the Russian Federation and Donbass Tell the World about Their Homeland

The awards ceremony of the “Tell the World About Your Homeland” children’s contest was held in Moscow. This y

ear more than 6 thousand creative works from 89 regions of the Russian Federation were submitted, and children from 35 foreign countries also took part in the competition.

The young winners received prizes, including tablets, board games, power banks, tuition at the famous online school Umskul, speakers, books and e-book certificates, thermocouples, a visit to Panorama 360 in Moscow City and much more. And foreign participants received a traditional Russian toy – a nevalyashka (tumbler doll). According to information from the organizing committee of the competition, there were children from new regions of Russia – DNR and LNR among the participants. All the winners were honoured at a ceremony in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.

“Tell the world about your homeland” is a competition, aimed at patriotic education of children and young people, the formation of the younger generation’s love and respect for their native land, as well as the development of friendly international relations. As part of the competition, the participants chose the most interesting moments from their country’s life and told their fellow countrymen living abroad about them in the format of a video clip or text presentation page with obligatory translation into a foreign language.

So, Kira Voevodina from school No. 80 in Donetsk was named among the three leaders in the category ‘Best Video’ of children under the age of 13.

“I decided to take part in this project because I am proud of my city Donetsk. I wanted to tell the world about my city… It’s a beautiful and hospitable city! I love my city. I was born here, my parents are from here, my relatives and beloved friends live here. Our home is a place where they always wait for us, remember and believe in us. Donetsk is my foundation, support, backbone and root. I love my homeland, I’m proud of it and I dream to make it famous. I want to work here in the future and bring up my children,” Kira Voevodina from the DNR captioned her video.

Roman Batrak from Sevastopol took one of the awards from 8 to 11 years old. In his video, he said he was very proud to live in Russia, one of its most beautiful places.

“I live in the best country in the world – Russia, in a heroic city – Sevastopol, in its most beautiful corner – Balaklava. And I’d love to tell you about this amazing place” – said Roman Batrak, a pupil of school № 25 named after Captain M.S. Drapushko.

 

Foreign guests at the ceremony were Minister Plenipotentiary and Counselor of the Embassy of Indonesia Nanang Saiful, representative of the Embassy of Palestine Samir Abu Saleh, and Firuz Rahmonov, attaché for Education and Culture of the Embassy of Tajikistan in Russia.

After the award ceremony for all participants, a children’s charity concert, “The Joy of Easter” was held with more than 300 performers.
