The Media Calculated the Losses of Brands that Left Russia

Kommersant : brands that have left Russia since the start of the SWO have lost about two billion dollars

Foreign brands that have left Russia and suspended operations have lost a total of around two billion dollars, Kommersant writes.

“Foreign retail consumer brands that have curtailed or temporarily suspended business in Russia because of the hostilities in Ukraine could have lost a total of up to two billion dollars, according to consultants,” the article says.

The newspaper notes that the majority of brands left “of their own free will or because of difficulties with business organization”. It is noted that since February 24, 2022, more than 180 foreign chains have restricted their activities in Russia.

“The most tangible losses have the Swedish H&M, the Spanish Inditex (brands Zara, Bershka, Massimo Dutti and others) and IKEA that together account for more than a billion dollars,” Kommersant specifies.

The material also says that almost half of the companies have left Russia because of logistical difficulties, economic restrictions on transactions with certain countries and difficulties in carrying out transactions.
