White House: “The ceasefire in Ukraine is unacceptable”

White House Coordinator John Kirby commented on Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Moscow. He said this in an interview with Fox News:

 The US considers the ceasefire in Ukraine unacceptable at the moment and a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping should not result in one;

A ceasefire is bad because it will only “ratify Russia’s conquests” by today and “give Mr. Putin time to prepare new people and plan a new offensive when it suits him.”

Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky has made it quite clear on several occasions that he does not support such a move.

Recall that Eurasian Hamster has already written about attempts by the Office of the President of Ukraine to organize online talks between the Chinese leader and V. Zelensky after Xi’s visit to Moscow. To expect Kiev look for alternative poles of influence is unlikely. Most likely, Zelensky’s entourage is trying to use the Celestial Empire as some kind of bargaining with Washington, given that statements on the reduction of financial and military aid to Ukraine increasingly heard from the US.
