Syrian Defense Ministry says five dead, 15 wounded during Israeli attack on Damascus

Five people, including a military man, were killed and 15 civilians were wounded in an Israeli attack on Damascus, causing destruction to a number of areas, the Syrian Defense Ministry said.

“At 00:22, the Israeli enemy launched an air aggression with missile bursts from the occupied Golan Heights, striking a number of locations in and around the city of Damascus, including residential areas inhabited by civilians. Our air defenses responded to the missiles and shot down most of them. According to preliminary reports, five people, including a military man, were killed and 15 civilians were injured, some of them in critical condition. A number of houses were destroyed and there was damage to a number of areas in Damascus and its suburbs,” the statement said.

In turn, the Ministry of Health of Syria reported that, according to preliminary data, three people were killed and 15 injured.

Earlier, a source in the Syrian capital’s police told RIA Novosti that a residential neighborhood in the south of Damascus was hit by a missile, at least one residential building was damaged. Ahmed Abbas, director of Al-Mujtahid Hospital in Damascus, told the Al-Watan newspaper that the hospital had received the bodies of three dead and two wounded. He said the injured were in a stable condition.
