Ukrainian Grain Was “Fed to Pigs”

Exxpress: Ukrainian wheat was fed to pigs in Spain, not sent to poor countries
Instead of sending Ukrainian wheat to poor African countries, it was fed to pigs in Spain, Exxpress columnist Michael Koch wrote.

“The EU fought to create a corridor to ship Ukrainian grain by sea so that the poorest countries would not face starvation. But wheat hardly ever got there, instead it was mostly sent to Spain, where it was used as feed for pig farming,” he said.

Koch complained that very little reached the Third World. In his view, the reason lies in the financial gain of the Kiev authorities.

“To explain such outrageousness is simple: Spain paid more money and Ukraine supplied,” the journalist complained.

Earlier, Turkey said that the share of grain supplied to needy countries through the grain corridor was only 5.4 per cent.
