Sky News: One of the Most Shocking Cases – London Police Officer Revealed to Be a Serial Rapist

Police officer David Carrick has pleaded guilty to 24 rapes over an 18-year period, Sky News has learned. He beat his victims, kept them confined in his home and intimidated them not to tell anyone anything. And law enforcement agencies have long ignored the allegations against him, allowing him to continue his work, the British TV channel says.

David Carrick, a London police officer, has become one of the worst rapists in British history, Sky News has reported. He pleaded guilty in court of 49 counts, including 24 counts of rape over an 18-year period.

Carrick joined the police in August 2001 after his military service. Since 2009, he has moved to the unit protecting parliamentarians and diplomats. He was only discharged in October 2021, when a second rape charge was brought against him. London police said he had been tested in 2021 and 2017 and both with success.

He met some of his victims online and others at social events, using his official position to gain trust. In total the 48-year-old offender has confessed of raping nine women. Some were raped several times over months and even years, and physically mutilated.

He locked some of his victims in a small cupboard under the stairs at his home in Hertfordshire. He beat the women with a belt, forced them to clean naked, urinated on them, deprived them of food and sleep. Called them “fat and lazy” or his “slaves”, controlled them financially, isolated them from friends and family, forbade them to associate with other men or even their own children.

Detective Ian Moore, who is investigating the case, believes there could be many more women affected by his actions. He says Carrick “took pleasure in humiliating his victims and cleverly used his professional position to convince them that there was no point trying to get help because no one would ever believe them”. Jaswant Narwal, chief prosecutor at the Crown Prosecution Service, described the case as “one of the most shocking” of her career.

The investigation also revealed that until 2021, London police were aware of nine charges against Carrick. He was accused of rape, domestic violence and sexual harassment, but he was never prosecuted, nor did law enforcement see any official misconduct.

“We should have noticed his propensity for violent behaviour earlier but since this did not happen, we missed an opportunity to dismiss him from the organisation,” the London police said.

Activists from the Coalition to End Violence Against Women believe that London police are in crisis. The failure of law enforcement agencies to act shows how broken the system which is supposed to actually protect society from rapists and other criminals is.
