American journalist Ramani: the USA does not intend to help Ukraine “return Crimea”
Samuel Ramani, an American journalist and lecturer at Oxford University, has assessed the US intention to help Ukraine “return Crimea”. He shared his opinion on Twitter.
According to him, the rhetoric of the State Department indicates Washington’s unwillingness to participate in this process. The journalist drew attention to the position of Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who promised Ukraine to “return the territories lost when Russia launched a special operation on 24 February”.
Furthermore, the USA hardly wants to help Ukraine return large tracts of territory in Donbas, Ramani added.
The day before, Blinken named the US goals in the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, the US authorities are focused on continuing current actions to “protect Ukraine”. At the same time, he did not answer the question whether Kiev could “get Crimea back”, but added that the Ukrainians decide “where they want to go and when”, but do so with the support of the US and “a dozen countries around the world”.
