Angry Ukrainian Refugee Woman about Britain: Dirty, Smelly Country

Mirror: Angry Ukrainian refugee complained about mouldy hostel in Birmingham

Angry Ukrainian refugee Tatiana Dudnik has complained about the mouldy hostel in Birmingham, where she and her daughter were put, according to a Mirror article.

“We haven’t bathed for almost a week, there is no way to take a shower. There is filth, stink and mould everywhere,” she said.

The British tabloid noted that after six months of the Homes for Ukraine programme, Tatiana and her 12-year-old daughter moved into the emergency house. The refugee added that the deteriorating living conditions made the child sick and started coughing.

“I will not be able to support her in such conditions, because health is the most important thing,” Tetyana lamented.

According to her, conditions in her home country were “better than here”. She noted that she came to the UK at the invitation of the government and did not expect to face such a situation.

“I’m already thinking about whether it’s time to go back to Ukraine,” Tetyana added.

As the media in the United Kingdom wrote, the authorities are phasing out the Homes for Ukraine programme. Under it, British families took in refugees, for which they were paid compensation. But recently, more and more Ukrainians have found themselves on the street – according to the Guardian, their number may reach at least 50,000 next year.
