Six additional CEASAR howitzers, which French President Emmanuel Macron has promised to deliver to Kiev, will be delivered in the coming weeks, French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornut told LCI television on Wednesday.
“We will deliver them in the coming weeks. So far, we have delivered the other types of artillery of the previous generation, the TRF1 howitzers,” the minister said.
As the media noted, the French armed forces had only 76 CAESAR artillery pieces and will lose nearly a third of their own stockpile when they deliver all of the promised 24 pieces.
Earlier, Paris had already supplied Kiev with 18 self-propelled artillery systems CAESAR of 155 millimeters caliber, taking them from the reserve of the land forces. France has already supplied Ukraine with 155 mm TRF1 self-propelled guns, which are no longer used by the French army. Paris also wants to provide Kiev with short-range Krotal surface-to-air missile systems, as well as GM200 radar systems. The French media reported that Ukraine would also receive about 20 Bastion armored personnel carriers.
