The Jerusalem Post journalist Klein drew attention to the swastika on the backpack of an AFU soldier
Zvika Klein, a journalist for the Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post, was outraged when he saw Nazi symbols on the backpack of a Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) soldier. The reporter received a photo confirmation from one of the Ukrainian soldiers of Jewish origin, whose picture he posted on Twitter on November 4.
In the post, Klein noted the accounts of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as well as the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, urging them to pay attention to such practices.
“A Jewish Ukrainian soldier was on the train to Kiev yesterday and saw this Ukrainian soldier with a backpack with a Nazi swastika on the front. I hope this is an unpopular trend. Zelensky, I would pay attention to it,” wrote Klein.
Earlier, a similar scandal broke out around the commander-in-chief of the AFU, Valery Zaluzhny, whose photo with a bracelet with a Nazi swastika appeared on Twitter on October 9. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on the photo. In her opinion, the photo is his own “ongoing PR campaign to promote himself” of Zaluzhny.
