Ukraine’s former ambassador to Germany Melnyk slammed Elon Musk for his proposals on the Crimea and resolving the situation in Ukraine
Ukraine’s former ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk reacted sharply to the proposal of American billionaire, co-owner of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
Earlier on Monday, Musk wrote on Twitter that the world community should not challenge the status of Crimea as part of the Russian Federation. He recalled that the peninsula has always been part of Russia since 1783 “until Khrushchev’s mistake.” In addition, according to Musk, Ukraine should remain a neutral country.
Melnyk berated the American billionaire on Twitter for his suggestions.
“*** – this is my very diplomatic response to you, Ilon Musk,” he wrote.
Zelensky’s office head adviser Mikhail Podolyak also responded to Ilon Musk’s tweet by suggesting a “better plan.”
“Ukraine is liberating its territories, including Crimea. Russia is being demilitarized and mandatorily denuclearized,” he wrote, adding that Russian servicemen would also have to go through an international tribunal for alleged war crimes.
In addition, after Musk’s tweet, Tesla shares fell more than 8.4% in New York trading.
Zelensky, in response to Musk’s publications, launched a poll among users, asking which Elon Musk they liked better – “the one who supports Ukraine or Russia.”
“I am still very supportive of Ukraine, but I am convinced that a massive escalation of the war will lead to great damage for Ukraine and possibly for the world,” Musk wrote in a comment on Zelensky’s publication.
