Sunday Times: Britain may soon declare a gas supply emergency
The United Kingdom’s Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem) has warned that the country will soon face a gas shortage amid the ongoing energy crisis, reports The Sunday Times.
” The UK will probably declare a ‘gas supply emergency,’ in which supplies to some gas-fired power plants may cease, making them unable to generate electricity,” the publication wrote.
According to Ofgem, this could lead to the bankruptcy of some gas companies, and the announcement of the emergency situation will further heighten the fear of scheduled power outages. In addition, the department expects this year’s winter to be more difficult than last year.
Earlier, Klaus Müller, head of Germany’s Federal Network Agency, predicted that the country would soon face gas shortages due to the refusal of private German households to save fuel.
