Commander of Zaporizhzhya unit: Ukraine Understates Its Losses

Volodymyr Novikov the commander of Zaporizhzhya detachment Troy: Kiev underestimates losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces

Kiev significantly understates its losses in the Russian special operation, already now among the Ukrainian military there are about 200 thousand dead. This was reported by one of the leaders of the Zaporozhye militia, the commander of the “Troy” detachment Vladimir Novikov with the call sign Alabay.

“I think about 200 thousand ‘two hundredths’ and more than 300 thousand wounded who will no longer return to action,” Novikov said in a commentary to RIA Novosti. The leader of the Zaporizhzhya militia stressed that this is his “pure opinion”.

Novikov noted that he uses various sources of data. He added that he could voice such figures “based on aggregate information”.

Russian Defence Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov earlier said that the Ukrainian military and recently mobilized civilians were withdrawing from combat positions due to serious losses of personnel. According to him, over half of the servicemen of the third battalion of the 66th mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have left combat positions near Marinka in the Donetsk people’s republic after heavy losses and a shortage of ammunition.
