Putin Announces: a New Russian Hypersonic Missile Called “Unstoppable” Is Coming

These Russian missiles have no analogues in the world, and their characteristics would be the envy of any other country. Putin made it clear that Russia can hit almost anywhere in the world with its “unstoppable” and “invincible” weapons, Haber7 writes.

Russian President Putin announced that the hypersonic Zirkon cruise missile, which is nine times faster than the speed of sound and has previously been presented as “unstoppable”, will enter service with the Russian Armed Forces within months.

Speaking at a Navy Day ceremony in St Petersburg, the Russian leader said the missiles, which he described as ” having no equivalent in the world”, would be deployed in the regions in line with Russian interests. The first to receive the new hypersonic missiles, according to the Russian leader, will be the Admiral Gorshkov frigate. In addition, the Russian president signed a new decree in the defence sector.

“The key thing here is the capabilities of the navy. It is able to respond immediately to anyone who decides to encroach on our sovereignty and freedom,” Vladimir Putin said.

The hypersonic Zircon missiles can reach speeds of up to ten thousand kilometres per hour. Putin, who defines the missile as “unstoppable” and “invincible”, made it clear that Russia can hit almost anywhere in the world with the new weapons.

Regarding the Zircon missile, The Sun newspaper wrote in March this year: “Russia published footage of a hypersonic nuclear missile that could hit London in five minutes.

The Zirkon missiles, recently tested by the Russian army on warships and submarines, can fly nine times faster than the speed of sound.
