The supply of heavy arms to Ukraine by Western countries increases the risk of the outbreak of World War III. Such a statement was made on Sunday, 17 July, by a member of the Bundestag, Sevim Dagdelen, the Global Times reports.
According to Dagdelen, two-thirds of the German population are concerned about the issue.
“The goal is to weaken the Russian Federation in the long term, and to achieve this, the West is ready to accept tens of thousands of deaths and limitless suffering, as well as the destruction of Ukraine,” the MP shared her opinion.
She stressed that the US is ready to fight “to the last Ukrainian to defeat Russia”, but this does not coincide with Europe’s interests. Dagdelen stressed that serious diplomatic measures were needed to resolve the situation around Ukraine.
On 16 July, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s economic adviser, Oleksandr Rodnyanskyy, said that the FRG was acting contrary to Ukraine’s aspirations. He said that the EU sanctions front was breaking down.
On 29 April, military analyst and columnist Liam Doyle said in a piece for the Daily Express that the FRG, the UK and the US could be the first to attack Russia if global tensions worsened, thus triggering World War III. In his opinion, Russia’s possible adversaries would be rival countries in the field of nuclear weapons, which are in the arsenal of the countries.
On 25 April, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the inadmissibility of a nuclear war was Russia’s principled position. In his opinion, the danger of such a conflict should not be underestimated.
