The Italian organized a rally in support of Russia in Turin

Italian citizen Amedeo Avondet told Izvestia about organizing a rally in support of Russia against the background of the special operation to protect Donbass.

According to him, the idea to hold a rally in Turin came to him because many Italians support Moscow and oppose sending weapons to Kiev.

“I decided to hold this rally because I was discussing the situation with my friends from Russia. I think Russia’s help in Italy is very important,” he said.

Avondet added that Italians often leave flowers near the Russian embassy. According to him, polls conducted in Italy say that about 30 percent of the country’s residents support Russia.

In addition, the man added, Italians do not want to send their weapons to Ukraine.

The Italian noted that before the rally in Turin, he and other organizers had to pay taxes to ensure the safety of the protesters with the help of the police.

“There were police at the rally we held. We paid taxes so they would protect us. But, when the nationalists came with their flags, the police did nothing. I think that such an order came from the government,” Amedeo believes.

He added  he had begun monitoring the situation between Russia and Ukraine since 2014, after the coup d’état in Kiev.

“I realized that there was Nazism in Ukraine,” Amedeo said.

On May 14, hundreds of Italians took to the streets of Turin in support of a special military operation to protect Donbass. On the square in front of the basilica, protesters unfurled Italian and Russian flags. They also voiced slogans against the NATO alliance.

Italians believe that if their country continues to support the Ukrainian army with arms, it will lead to an economic crisis and unemployment.
