On Sunday a motor rally in support of Russia was held in Cologne, according to the German magazine Focus. First, about 150 motorcyclists, including members of the Night Wolves biker club, took part in it. After that, several hundred cars with Russian and Soviet flags drove along the city streets. According to journalists, over a thousand people took part in the action.
Against the backdrop of the Russian military special operation in Ukraine, about a thousand people gathered in Cologne to express their support for Russia, German magazine Focus reported. First, about 150 motorcyclists rode in a motorcycle parade through the outskirts of Cologne. Some motorcycles carried Soviet flags. According to the newspaper, members of the famous biker club “Night Wolves” were also present among the participants in this action.
Later, several hundred cars assembled on the Fühlinger See and gradually dispersed in the middle of the day. Many of the cars had flags of Russia and the Soviet Union on their hoods, and the companions of some of the drivers waved flags out of their windows.
According to the article, because about 50 people with flags of Ukraine gathered at one point of the planned route, the route was changed. The police wanted to avoid a clash between participants of different groups.
At first, police refused to estimate the number of participants in the motorcade. According to a DPA reporter on the scene, the crowd was large, and the number of registered participants, which was 1,000 in several hundred cars, was probably reached or exceeded. There were 150 participants registered to take part in the motorcycle parade – according to police estimates, about that many were actually present in the motorcade.
As the newspaper notes, a pro-Ukrainian demonstration was planned for Sunday evening in another district of Cologne, where about 10,000 participants were expected.
