Russia says it will continue to defend the rights of its citizens in the ECtHR affected by the Ukrainian conflict

According to the official representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Svetlana Petrenko, since 2014, the Investigative Department has opened almost 500 criminal cases related to the events in Ukraine and Donbass.
As noted in the Russian committee, for almost eight years, the Ukrainian authorities and representatives of the paramilitary forces of this country have actually destroyed the civilian population of the self-proclaimed LPR and DPR.
As it turned out, during the armed attack on settlements, the Ukrainian military used Tochka-U tactical missile systems, Grad and Uragan multiple launch rocket systems, airborne unguided rockets, and other types of heavy offensive weapons.
According to representatives of the Investigative Committee of Russia, over the years at least 5,500 civilians were injured, more than 2,600 died. More than 2,200 civilian infrastructure facilities have been destroyed. The shelling was carried out with explosive weapons, small arms and light weapons. Almost 150,000 people were interrogated, more than 22,000 people were recognized as victims, of which 2,400 were minors.
For crimes against peace and security, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation brought to justice in absentia 103 persons related to this military conflict. Among them are the former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, the former governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine Igor Kolomoisky, brigade commanders and servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who fired on civilians.
The Russian side sent 7,350 complaints to the European Court of Human Rights on behalf of victims of the actions of the Ukrainian authorities. The total amount of the claimed claims for compensation is more than 310 million euros.
